When first trying to decide what to make stickers for I was given the idea of doing dia de los muertos styled superhero stickers. So I started sketching a bunch of my favorite superheroes and villains with either their mask or helmet. I went a little more into detail on Loki’s helmet, the flash symbol, and wonder woman’s headband because those were the ones I really wanted to do.

I then started working on Loki’s helmet and trying to make it similar to the one he wears, but I didn’t like the way his horns were coming out and how the helmet was going to fit his face. I also didn’t think I would have much room for creating designs on his face to give the day of the dead style make-up. So back to the drawing board I went.

I then came up with the concept of making Tim Burton characters with day of the dead designs on their face. Which is how I started with making Jack Skellington and then putting designs on his face from different references. I know we aren’t supposed to design on the computer first, but I went off on a whim with this one and that’s how I came up with my other concepts that I started on paper first. So I started to create the Other Mother from the movie Coraline and the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. Overall I think they came out exactly how I pictured them and only have color on the mad hatter because he is a very colorful character an the other two are more black and white.
