This Project was a test of my illustrator skills against the clock. I was worried that I wouldn’t have time to finish it along with the Thanksgiving break. I was having trouble with the idea first. So I started with word maps of just things. I started on top with the things I like and then at the bottom of things I hate. I was Just trying to combine music with something I hated and it came out with some weird Ideas that did not come out well. But hey, it’s part of the process so here it is.

After that failed attempt I was messing around earlier this semester with an idea of a DeadBeet so I pulled up that old file and started messing around and looking for themes with that. Some of the sketches that I had from earlier were pretty simple but gave me a theme to work with and a style I could follow.

Here was my first digital rendition of the dead beet. I really liked it but the leaves seemed off and I was told to look up shading on how to fix it but I was stubborn and did not like that.

I continued to look at different fruits and vegetables to look for more inspiration of what emotions they might feel or some puns that I could use. Then I decided to put on how kids would feel if they had to eat these things. They would be sad and thats the emotion that they had. Extremely exaggerated emotions that these vegetables expose to kids. I started with Carrots. Then went to tomatoes because of my girlfriend’s extremely large distaste for them. After all of them put together. I practiced shadows. Then adding the rest of the needed space I was happy with how they turned out. I wanted them to feel the same way so I used the same shadow colors to color their eyes and mouth. I feel that the style was very coherent and made sense.
