For this project I wanted to focus be simple in the composition and detailed in the illustration. The first thing I had to do was deciding what kind of music the band was to play, since that will determine the direction of the project and the feeling i would give to the poster. I decided to go with a psychedelic rock fusion, mostly instrumental.

I decided to have a character in the design to represent a feeling of enjoyment and peace. In my second draft, my character had open eyes and mouth as though she was singing, but it looked a little sensual and that wasn’t what I wanted to represent, so I decided to have her eyes closed and gave her some dimples to give her an air of enjoyment.

To balance the weight of the illustration at the bottom of the poster I decided to place an element that would act as a source of light. I chose to use an element light in color and weight but similar in shape. This with the purpose of canceling things out and making the center a visual focus. The bottom illustration still is the heaviest focal point, but it gives place to the text in the middle to be read. I made some minor changes on her facial expressions. The process of choosing the right typography was long but I used a font that is simple and at the same time evokes multiplicity of layers.
